American Miniature Gun Mfg, Co.
"LITTLE .45"
This is for a MATCHING SET of dueling Little .45's. We have NEVER seen a set like this, and have NEVER heard of them even offering a matched set with consecutive serial numbers. This 3 1/2 inch OAL, gun is modeled on the Colt Frontier Single Action Army .45 revolver, and just as the literature included states, regarding this "Little .45", "The American Miniature Arms Mfg. Co. has engineered and manufactured the 'Little .45'. It is a perfect miniature of this famous gun, and operates just like the full sized weapon, even to the tiny revolving cylinder with six chambers, loading gate, side rod ejector, half and full cock, etc. Miniature brass blank cartridges are fired with a loud report and smoke." These are much nicer than just a toy, but not a true miniature. Manufactured in the 1950's this gun produced by the American Miniature Gun Mfg. Co. based in Hollywood, California, is more functional than the very best of toy miniatures from this period. This gun is described in Bob Urso's "The Tiniest Guns" on pages 86-89, and listed as U20 – Little 45
These miniature guns were produced during the 1950's during the days of the old western and Red Ryder BB guns. However, these were not your children cap gun, as for even back then, The single "Little .45" Colt was a fairly pricey gun at $27.50 for the Standard Chrome Plated model and $100.00 for the Deluxe model that had Chrome and Gold plating, engraving, and both came in the exquisite walnut case that is about the size of cigarettes, which has a brass plate on the top for engraving the name of the owner. These I would guess were somewhere between the $27.50 for a single one, and the $100 for the deluxe set that is engraved. I would imagine that this special dueling set sold for around the $75-$100 range even back in the 1950's. That was ALOT of money back then. Also included in this case, on a black velvet foam bed, was a plastic bullet that contained 20 brass caps, and on the outside, the case was held closed by brass hinges, and a brass latch. Each "Little .45" has it's own individual serial number that is located on the bottom of the barrel, Pearl grips, and each used a spring loaded ejector rod to eject the spent brass blanks.
The serial numbers on these guns are 2870, and 2871, comes with 2 original brass caps in the plastic bullet and is the one in these photos. This gun and case are in amazing condition, this set even has the top of the bullet, which is normally the first thing lost, so this is a 100% complete set. We will include a copy of the original ad and instuctions at no additional charge. The tabs were used to pull the ejector rod back, and are the most commonly missing part of these guns, is in PERFECT shape on both guns.
Each of our "Little .45's" is in different but highly graded condition, and any issues will be listed in each ad, along with the serial number, and the photos will be of each individual gun. We cannot guarantee that any of the brass blanks, if included, will work after all of these years. After all, these guns are about 65 years old. we have 6 different sets of single
